Wanda Frances Wellner

Wanda Frances Wellner, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Born on July 3, 1940, to Alex and Frances Hazlewood, Wanda grew up with strong values of love, hard work, and community. She graduated from Capitol Hill High School in 1958 and married the love of her life, John H. Wellner, in 1961. Together, they shared a remarkable 64 years of marriage filled with unwavering love and dedication.

Wanda’s family was her pride and joy. She is survived by her husband, John; her daughter, Deborah Wellner; her son, Mike Wellner; and her daughter-in-law, Belinda Wellner. She was the cherished grandmother of Sarah Bivens, Alex Jewell, Matt Jewell, Shelby Wellner, and Austin Wellner. Her legacy lives on through her six great-grandchildren: Cassidy Bivens, Jessica Bivens, Brook Bivens, Allison Bivens, Tabitha Bivens, and Ellie Wellner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alex and Frances Hazlewood, and her brother, Richard Hazlewood.

A skilled bookkeeper, Wanda worked tirelessly before retiring in 1988. Beyond her professional life, she served her community with passion. She became a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in 1959 and was a charter member of the Xi Gamma Epsilom chapter in Moore. She became President of that chapter and was a member of two others in Moore. Wanda was a committee chairman for Beta Sigma Phi state convention. She was named Moore’s Woman of the Year in 1971.

She continued her passion for serving as a member of the Moore Jaycee Jaynes where she became vice president. She rose to the roles of President of Oklahoma Jaycee Jaynes in 1975 and Regional Vice President at the national level in 1976.

Wanda was the heart of her family, a nurturing and loving presence who inspired everyone to strive for their best. She delighted in gathering her loved ones for family meals and holidays, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime. Her warmth, wisdom, and steadfast encouragement were the foundation of her family’s strength and unity.

Wanda’s love and influence will forever remain in the hearts of her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
