Timmothy Joe Stillwell, longtime Jones resident, left this earth on Friday, October 4, 2024 at the VA Medical Center in Oklahoma City at the age of 77. Tim was born August 8, 1947 in Oklahoma City to Orville and Elnora (Stoker) Stillwell. He grew up in Oklahoma City until the age of 13 and then resided at the Baptist Children’s Home. Tim worked for dairy farmers in the area until age 16 when he began farming on his own.
Tim was drafted into the US Army and served his country with a tour of duty in Vietnam. He was a Mortar Platoon Sergeant in the 198th Light Infantry Brigade for the Americal Division. Tim received the Bronze Star paperwork but wouldn’t follow up with it because he said he didn’t deserve it.
After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Tim came home and began farming. In 1976 he married Shirley Marie (Stevens) and they were blessed with two sons, Daniel and Tommy. Tim continued to farm with his two sons for many years until he wasn’t able to continue. After the passing of son Daniel, Tommy took over the family farming.
Tim enjoyed fishing, looking for antiques, going to farm auctions and buying tractor and loved antique tractors.
Tim was a wonderful family man and the best husband and father anyone could ask for. He will certainly be missed.
Tim leaves behind his wife, Shirley of the home; son, Tom of Jones; four grandchildren, Justin Stillwell of College Station, TX, Kadence Park of Wellston, Halle Stillwell and Taylin Stillwell of Jones, brother-in-law, Russell Stevens of Edmond and host of other family and friends.
So long Tim until we meet again and thank you for life together and I will love you forever. – Love, Shirl
