Stephen Patrick O’Rourke passed away of natural causes on February 27, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 62. Born on March 29, 1962, in Tulsa, Stephen lived a full life, calling San Antonio and Oklahoma City home before returning to Tulsa in his final years.
Stephen was a dedicated banker who retired young, allowing him to focus on what mattered most—his family and giving back to others. Known for his generosity, he gave freely of his time and resources, always ensuring that his loved ones were cared for. His kindness extended beyond family, as he dedicated much of his time to supporting homeless charities and AIDS assistance programs, striving to make a difference in the lives of those in need.
Above all, Stephen was a loving son who was adored by his mother, Mary Catherine Albritton. Their bond was unbreakable, and he carried her love with him throughout his life.
Stephen was also an avid pet lover, and his animals brought him great joy throughout his life. He is survived by his beloved cats, Betty and Wilma, and was predeceased by his cherished dogs, Chyna, Buddy, and Lucy.
He is survived by his sister, Teresa O’Rourke; his brother, Don O’Rourke, Jr., and his wife, Sherry O’Rourke; his half-brothers, Sean O’Rourke, David O’Rourke, and Brian O’Rourke; his nephew, Michael Vaghaiwalla, and his wife, Meghan Vaghaiwalla, along with their children, Cameron and Kira; his nephew, David Sanders, and his children, Zachary and Mary Sanders; and his great-nephew, Patrick Islam. He is also survived by many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Catherine Albritton; his father, Don O’Rourke, Sr.; his nieces, Stephanie Vaghaiwalla and Katie Vaghaiwalla; and his uncle, Father Paul Gallatin.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no formal service. Instead, the family will gather for a wake on Thursday, March 6, 2025, to celebrate his life and share memories.
Stephen will be remembered for his generosity, his sharp wit, and his unwavering love for those around him. His presence will be deeply missed, but his legacy of kindness and compassion will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
