Sammy Lee Hynds-Harrison, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 89. Born on September 23, 1935, near Bard, New Mexico, Sammy lived a life filled with love, faith, and a passion for family and creativity.

A lifelong and active member of the Christian church. Sammy’s final church home was Messiah Baptist Church in Richland Hills, Texas. Her deep faith and commitment to her church family were evident throughout her life.

Sammy’s passion for genealogy and family history brought her immense joy and fulfillment. She dedicated countless hours to uncovering family stories, introducing relatives across the country to their shared heritage, and connecting with others who shared her enthusiasm for genealogy.

She also expressed her creativity through crafting, creating beautiful necklaces, bracelets, and clothes. Sammy’s artistic touch was a reflection of her vibrant personality and love for beauty.

Sammy was a devoted and loving matriarch who cherished her family. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and warmth that will be forever remembered by those who knew her.

She is survived by her sister, Dixie Hynds Grimes; her children, Sonja Harrison Gordon and David Harrison; her grandchildren, Cassandra Harrison Paul, Matthew Smith, Gregory Davis, and Natasha Davis Stillwell; and her great-grandchildren, Alexander Whitefield, Abigail Stillwell, Sarah Stillwell, Ellis Smith, Moshe Stillwell, and Josiah Stillwell. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Sammy was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie Hynds and Annabell Donathan Hynds; and her siblings, Charlene "Sis" Hynds Cox, Robert Hynds, and Tommy Hynds.

Sammy will be remembered as a sweet and kind woman, loved by her many friends, family members, and acquaintances.
