Roy Merle Brooks, lifelong Oklahoma City resident, died Friday, October 12, 2018 at Integris Baptist Medical Center at the age of 86. Sally Ann Brooks, lifelong Oklahoma City resident, died Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Integris Hospice House at the age of 79.
Roy was born July 26, 1932 in Hinton, Oklahoma to Emanuel Eugene and Cora Mae (Clayborn) Brooks. Sally was born November 10, 1938 in Oklahoma City to William Robert and Helen Regina (Brothers) Fleming. Roy met Sally while he was working at Humpty Dumpty. They were married October 10, 1958 at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City and just had their 60th wedding anniversary.
Roy later went to work for Lowe Runkle Advertising Agency and retired from there after many years of service. Sally was a loving homemaker and raised her children in the home. She later went to work for Clear Channel Communications, Integris Baptist Medical Center and retired from Francis Tuttle Technology Center. They were both longtime and active members of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. Roy volunteered at church regularly and Sally enjoyed gardening, cooking and they both raised their grandchildren, Aimee and Bradley.
Roy and Sally are survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Julie Brooks; one granddaughter, Aimee Block; two grandsons, Bradley Shine and Ryan Brooks; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Tanner and Zane and a host of other family and friends.
They were preceded in death by their parents and one daughter, Judy Denise Shine.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with Rev. Dave Poteet officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of OK Cremation and Funeral Home.
