Ronald “Ronnie” Wade Johnson, age 60, of Chickasha, OK, passed away on February 24, 2025, surrounded by his family. Ronnie was born on October 29, 1964. He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1982 and later joined the National Guard in 1989.
Ronnie’s career path was as diverse as his interests. From a young age, he worked as a newspaper carrier, and after high school, he attended Okmulgee Technology School to pursue a career as an electrician. Throughout his life, he held various positions, including roles at Mistletoe Express, Bundt Candy, and Metro Transit, among many others.
He is survived by his two daughters, Kristina Gonzalez and Megan Clark; his brother, William “Bill” Smith (and his wife Jennifer); and his sister, Vicki Funderburk (and her husband Gary). Ronnie is also survived by his grandchildren, Jackie, Paloma, Madison, Noah, and Bella, and his great-grandchildren, Sterling and Everest. Additionally, he is survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ronnie is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Julie Johnson; his mother, Patricia A. Smith, and stepfather, H.B. Smith Jr.; his father, Mike Carpenter and stepmother Nancy; his grandparents, William H. and Waunita L. Johnson; and his grandson, Ricardo Gonzalez.
A memorial service to celebrate Ronnie’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on March 15, 2025, at 801 S. 29th Street, Chickasha, OK 73018. We invite all who knew him to come together, share stories, and celebrate the light, laughter, and love he brought into our lives. Ronnie’s spirit lives on in the countless memories and the impact he made on everyone he encountered.
