Robin David Carty

February 20, 1955 — February 9, 2016

Robin David Carty passed peacefully from this life into eternity on February 9, 2016.  He was surrounded by intimate friends and family members who covered him with love and comfort as he passed.

Robin was born on February 20th, 1955.  He was the sixth of nine children born to Alberta Doris Pruss and Milton Eugene Carty in York, Nebraska.  Their youngest son Ronnie passed away at birth and daughter Jackie passed away in mid-1970's.

Robin lived in York until the summer before his senior year in high school when he moved to Grand Prairie, Texas where he lived with his father for a short time.  He graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1973.

After High School, he traveled for a few years.  During this time, he discovered the gift of song, of music, of writing that he had been blessed with.  The passion in his soul saturated the music he composed, the lyrics he wrote and every performance he delivered.

He performed acoustically at first, then branched out to perform with a variety of talented, accomplished musicians.  He was one of the founders of The Basement Band and also Fat Man and the Maniacs.  He played rhythm guitar and was a lead singer.  Both bands enjoyed success with large followings in Texas, Oklahoma, and California.

Robin also worked as a ceramic tile installer for many years.

Robin is loved deeply by so many.  We will miss his rich laughter, his passionate heart, and his quirky sense of humor.  We are fortunate to have his music as a comfort to fill the air and our hearts.  The love we have for him will never die.  He impacted each person who was in relationship with him and we will forever hold him in our lives, our hearts.

He is survived by his sons, Paul Carty and Chris Carty of Austin, Tx.; Aubrey Carty of Spanish Fort, Alabama; Mary Carty of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandsons Waylon and Kane.  Sisters Diane Whitney, Terrie Fleming, Barb McKamey and Tammy Carty; brothers, Rick and Mick Carty; several nieces and nephews, and countless devoted friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff in ICU at OU Medical Center who cared for Robin.  We are deeply grateful for the compassion and selfless care you gave to him during his stay there.

Please join us for a Celebration of Robin's life and music at SAUCED located at 2912 Paseo Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on February 20th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. until 6:00p.m.
