Robert Lee Price

Robert Lee Price was born on February 16, 1949 to Willie Reen Price and Odessa (Shine) Price in McAlester, OK. Robert attended and graduated from L’Overture High School in 1967. He attended East Central University in Ada, OK before moving to Tulsa, OK where he was employed at Shell Oil Company for over 25 years. He married Sherriel (Zachary) Hall and to this union two children were born, Fernando Ricardo “Rico” and Brett Lamar Price. While in Tulsa Robert was a member of the Vernon AME Church and Gospel Choir.


Robert lived in Dallas and Denver before moving to Oklahoma City after his health began to fail in August 2010. He retired from the State of Colorado in the Judicial Branch. While working as a Collection Specialist, he was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation in 2006 for collecting over 100 million dollars in criminal assessments state wide. He attended Shorter Methodist Church in Denver, CO. Virgil G. Miller was his friend and partner until his death in 2009.


At the time of his departure, Robert was employed part-time at True Sky Credit Union, formerly FAA Credit Union as a Payment Solutions Consultant. He was a faithful member of Avery Chapel AME. Robert was a cheerful giver in every aspect of his life. He was known as “Mr. Dependable” among his family. He loved to cook and entertain family and friends on a regular basis.


He departed this life on September 1, 2016 at the Alliance Health Hospital (Midwest City Regional). He was preceded in death by his son, Rico, Mother, Father; two brothers, Willard and Lawrence Price. He leaves to cherish his memory four sisters, Bernice Price, Alice Harding, Elizabeth Davis and Bennetta Brown all of Oklahoma City; one sister-in-law, Wilma Price of McAlester, OK; one son, Brett of Bartlesville, OK; one granddaughter, A’Bryanna (Price) Williams and husband D’Angelo Williams; one great-granddaughter, Sa’Ni Williams all of Indianapolis, IN; several cousins and a host of nieces, nephews, many friends and his beloved dog, “Maxwell” the Lab.
