Rick Vanek
February 22, 1949 — August 7, 2015
Rick Vanek, Oklahoma City resident, passed away Friday, August 7, 2015 at the age of 66. He was born February 22, 1949 in Warren, Minnesota to Richard and Marjorie (Stroble) Vanek. He grew up in Warren having graduated from high school in 1967. He enlisted in the US Army and served three tours of duty in Vietnam as a combat medic.
He was employed by the US Postal Service in Fargo, ND, Colorado Springs, CO and Oklahoma City.
He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Maridale; sister, Julie; sister-in-law, Ruth Vanek; nephews, Brian, John and James Vanek; nieces, Donna Emert, Angela Cochran and Aimeeann Vanek and many friends.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald and life partner, Stacy Greany-Ferguson.
Rick was a dedicated supporter of many children and animal charities.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 3:00 PM at OK Cremation and Funeral Home Chapel with The. Rev. Tony Moon officiating.
