Richard D Garcia “Ricky D” of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was born April 25, 1958, in New Orleans Louisiana, and entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
Richard loved spending time with daughters and his grandchildren. Nothing gave him more joy than his family. He even had his 62nd birthday at Chuck E. Cheese so his grandkids could have fun too! He was always taking his family out to eat, theme parks or to the park for the grandkids to play. He was a fun-loving man who loved to laugh and joke around. His laugh was contagious! He was a lover of sports, especially baseball which he played for many years of his life. Baseball was a big part of his life, and he loved the game. He also loved the people he played with. His coach and teammates were not just teammates and friends but were family to him. He also loved football! You don’t have to know Ricky D. very long to know he is an LSU fanatic. Talk of LSU most likely would have been in every conversation you had with him. He was a proud Cajun born and raised in Alexandria, LA. He loved zydeco music and loved all kinds of Cajun cuisine. He was known for making a mean pot of gumbo and he loved making it for his co-workers at U-Haul. He worked at U-Haul for 25 years which showed he was a hard & dedicated worker. He was surrounded by great friends who became family to him; Loretta, Tonya, Andrew, Sergio & Tiana to name a few. If he was not with his family or playing baseball, he loved being with his friends at his apartment complex, playing catch with the kids, swimming in the pool and barbecuing. He will be greatly missed, but his legacy will continue to live on through his daughters, grandchildren and everyone else he impacted in his life.
He is now in Heaven with Jesus and so many who have gone before him, in a new glorified body. We love you so much we will see you again!!!
He was preceded in death by his adopted father Alfonso Garcia and mother Mae Garcia.
Those left to cherish his memory are his four daughters Andrea Zapata and husband Hector of Arlington TX, Alicia Pineda and husband Paul of Grand Prairie TX, Amanda LaCour of Alexandria LA and Shelby Berry - Garcia and husband Renaldo of Oklahoma City OK; And one sister Vikki Marquez of Antioch CA; Six grandchildren, Gabe and Cora Zapata, Ellie and Evan Pineda and Renaldo and Romiyah Miller and a host of extended family and friends.
