On October 27, 1942, a bouncing baby girl, Murva Lois Dykes was born to Harrison Dykes and Will B. Price in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She was the second born and has an older sister, Itelma-Manager. Murva attended Central High School where she joined the wrestling team, she performed well and was considered the best.
Murva and her sister attended church with their mother Willie B. Price at Greater Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, where she was the lead singer in the junior choir. She met the love of her life, George Horbert, and they pledged their love to one another. Out of this union they had four children: Keith, Kreig, Kandace, and Kerry. They also adopted Kelley, Marcus, Nicholas, and Darliesha and considered Ronnie Smith as a son and Carla & Beth as their daughters. She and her husband never hesitated to assist others in need.
Being married to her husband that was in the Air Force was exciting. Murva and her children got to travel the world. Which gave her a chance to sing around the world. Everyone that heard her voice loved to listen to her sing.
Murva is preceded in death by her husband George Horbert, son Keith Horbert and Mother Willie B. Price.
She had a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She made her mark and now her job is now finished.
