Lyla Miller, born on July 6, 1949, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on August 17, 2024.
Lyla was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was married to Dale Miller on March 4, 1988, and they shared 36 years together filled with love, laughter, companionship and many cherished memories.
Lyla was the proud mother of three daughters: Carrie, Stephanie, and Kristen, who brought immense joy to her life. She was also a devoted grandmother who treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.
A dedicated nurse and nurse educator, Lyla earned her master’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and touched countless lives throughout her career at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City where she worked for more than 30 years. She was known not only for her expertise and dedication to the nursing profession but also for her compassionate and caring nature. Her contributions as an educator have left a lasting impact on many who followed in her footsteps.
Lyla's devotion to the Methodist faith provided her with a sense of strength and belonging within the church community throughout her life. Outside of her professional and community endeavors, Lyla enjoyed reading, knitting, card games and most of all, spending time with her beloved family.
She is survived by her husband, Dale; her daughters, Carrie (Steven) Akins, Stephanie Garrett, and Kristen (TomPaul) Holder; her siblings Lynda Bryant, Jack Arnold, Danny Arnold and Barbara Medina; and her 10 cherished grandchildren: Mario, Brent, Brittany, William, and Wesley Lawson; Brian and Brandon Akins; Elise, Alex and Emmalea Garrett.
Lyla was preceded in death by her brothers Lyle Arnold and Jeff Arnold, and her parents, Barbara and Bernard Arnold.
Lyla's presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
