Leon "Chebon" Daniel Lena, Jr.

November 1, 1982 — September 27, 2022

Oklahoma City

Growing up as the oldest grandchild in a family with 14 cousins can be challenging but imagine how Chebon felt as the youngest of those 14 and being only 1 of 4 boys. Although he had 2 older sisters it was more like growing up with 10 big sisters and people would later wonder why he was so ornery.
Chebon liked cars, art and Stephen King novels. I remember seeing some of his drawings and thinking man I wish I could draw like that. He was a truly talented artist.
During times like this, I wonder if maybe he had been able to focus on those talents and loves, where he would be. Would he be a famous artist, writer or a talented mechanic.
I remember when Chebon was born, he's actually the only cousin I really remember being born, my aunt had had a difficult pregnancy and went into labor on Halloween. Years later I remember talking to her saying I wished he had been born in October and her telling me she prayed he wouldn't be born on the Halloween because she didn't want a spook baby! I just wanted someone to share my birth month. I didn't realize at the time all my cousins hated sharing their birthday parties growing up.
Chebon was preceded in Death by both his parents Leon D Lena Sr. and Frances J. "June" Glenn and a son Leon D. Lena 3rd but leaves behind two loving sisters, Shannon and Lisa and a bother-in-law Shawn, two handsome nephews Donavan and Nicholas, a beautiful niece Gabrielle and two great- grandnephews Kameron and Marshall.
I'll always remember the laughing little boy who wouldn't stop turning me in circles on a tire swing and found it so funny I would get motion sickness going round and round or how he tried to nickname me "books", imagine my gratitude when that name didn't catch on. Chebon you will truly be missed not only by the family that loves you but by the friends whose lives you touched.
