Larry Voyce Frye went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2024 at the age of 72 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. After a recent surgery, there were complications that left him fighting for his life. In true Marine fashion, Larry fought the good fight until the very end.
Larry was born in Tazwell, Virginia on January 30, 1952. He grew up in the hollers of West Virginia, digging up ginseng, catching ground hogs and hunting squirrels with his dog, Jimmy.
At the age of 17, he joined the United States Marine Corps and completed one tour in Vietnam. After Vietnam, he was stationed at Camp Pendleton in Southern California. There he met the love of his life, Sandra Kay Koci. They married on April 14,1972 and had 3 girls- Jeana, Christy and Sherry.
In 1980, Larry moved his family to Arkansas and changed their lives forever. It is here that he accepted The Lord as his Savior and dedicated his life to serving his Lord. He eventually surrendered to preach and pastored several churches as well as becoming a missionary in Las Vegas, NV where he started Lone Mountain Missionary Baptist church and an awesome homeless ministry.
After retiring from the ministry to Texas in 2013, he felt led to take a pastorship in Springer, OK, where he served out his days leading the wonderful members of Springer Missionary Baptist Church in several outreach programs and serving their Lord.
Larry’s survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Sandy Frye; 3 daughters: Jeana Wesson, Christy Duvall, and Sherry Rettinger, all residing in TX; 8 grandchildren: Brittney Perez, Jake Wesson, Kyle Rettinger, Miles Walton, Nathan Rettinger, Gracie Duvall, Haley Rettinger and AJ Duvall; 4 siblings: Joyce Ferrell, Lalah Woolever, Joseph R.
