Karen Sue (Byrne) Wojtek

On Friday, October 23rd, 2020, Karen Sue Wojtek, loving wife and mother, passed away at the age of 59 after a long and hard fought battle with Lymphoma.

She was born on May 26th, 1961 in Oklahoma City, OK.  She was the fifth of six children to Edward James and Anna Marie (Von Elm) Byrne and had an uncanny connection to her youngest sister Joan.  Some even referred to them as twin-like. On February 4th, 1978, she married her high school sweetheart, Mike Wojtek.  They raised two sons, Michael and Brad.

Karen had a long career in the insurance industry as an office manager, administrator and administrative assistant.  She started in the industry when she was 18 years old and received numerous awards and acknowledgements throughout her career for her exceptional service.

She will be remembered for so many things.  She was an outstanding wife, a loving mother, a doting Mema and a true friend.  One of the strongest, most courageous and positive people we have ever known. You could see it in her eyes.  She had an infectious smile that lit up the room, had a zest for life that was unmatched and was always willing to help others any way she could.  The joy she conveyed, the love of her family, positivity and kindness will be missed dearly by all who knew her.

Karen is survived by her husband of 42 years, Mike; children: Michael (wife Jennifer) and Brad (wife Debra); grandchildren Haylee, Asher, Matthew, Hannah and Joshua; Brother Jim Byrne; and Sisters Pat Stewart (husband Bob), Barbara Baird (husband Garry), Kathy Bentkowski (husband Ben), and Joan Aiello.

She was predeceased by her parents Edward James and Anna Marie Byrne.
