Jennifer Rebecca Nimsey was born on August 9th, 1972, to Corey Lynn and Paulla Jean Nimsey at St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. Jennifer’s entrance into the world was a miracle in itself because she got the full attention of the delivery room. The doctor told the nurses to leave that baby alone and come to help with Paulla. When everything was calmed down, a nurse told Paulla, “You need to thank God every time you look at Jennifer because you both barely made it.” She was a miracle from her first breath.
Growing up, she played softball for several teams and won park champs during her first year. What a year. In 1990, she graduated from Noble High School on the Principal’s Honor Roll and was accepted into OU on a full scholarship. Jennifer earned an accounting degree from USAO in Chickasha. One of Jennifer’s favorite jobs was working at Christie’s Toy Box, where she had many customers come in and ask specifically for her. She had a way of making people feel comfortable in uncomfortable situations.
Her joys in life were concerts, seeing new places, trying new foods, and visiting friends. She loved music, movies, drag shows, and UFC. More than anything, she enjoyed playing and laughing with her grandchildren. When her grandchildren came to visit, they would call Paulla “Old grandma” and Jennifer “Fat grandma.”
Jennifer knew no stranger. Everyone she met fell in love with her. She always wore a smile, and her outgoing personality made her easy to know. She was a warm-blooded woman! She was known for hilariously announcing, “It’s HOT in here!” when she arrived almost anywhere. She was a mess. She was authentic. She was loud. She was the life of the party. She knew how to laugh, but most of all she was loved and truly loved others.
In October of 2019, Jennifer underwent brain surgery to remove a tumor the size of a lemon. Her doctor called her a walking miracle. In June of 2023, her illness returned and on August 31st, 2023, she succumbed to her illness.
Jennifer is preceded in death by her father Corey Nimsey, stepfather Larry Dudley, brother Damon Nimsey, grandparents Richard Lewis, Gerald & Rosemary Nimsey, uncle Mark Lewis, and cousin Sarah Winn.
She was survived by her sons Mikel (Destiny) Nimsey, Teon (Alex) Nimsey, & Chris Nimsey, grandchildren Elijah, Kelyn, Mina, & Hinata, mother Paulla Nimsey, sister Jessika Nimsey, brother Corey (Chasity) Nimsey, brother Daryl Nimsey, stepbrother Larry Dudley, stepsisters Trisha Simmons, Paula Walker & Trudie (Kelly) Barker, and her beloved dog "Poppy".
Jennifer was truly blessed and a blessing to us all.
