Harvey Lee Phillips, longtime Pontotoc County resident, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at the Ardmore Veterans Center in Ardmore at the age of 79.
Harvey was born October 13, 1944 in Seminole, Oklahoma to Lillie Mae (Anderson) Phillips and Clifford H. Phillips. He was raised by his step-dad Tom Crow, whom he always knew as his dad. Harvey grew up in Stonewall, Oklahoma and graduated from Stonewall High School in 1964.
Harvey was drafted in 1965 by the Army and served two years in Germany on the border as a security patrol and a tank operator. After receiving and honorable discharge on January 12, 1968, he returned back home. Harvey went to work Evergreen Mills and worked there for a short time. He later went to work for the Ada Police Department on October 21, 1968. Harvey was promoted to assistant chief in November 1989 where he completed his 27 years of service. Harvey was known for being direct and brief when speaking. “Less was always more” as he would often say. Following a few years of retirement, Harvey went to work for the ECU Police Department. He retired after 13 years of service for a combined total of almost 40 years in Law Enforcement.
Harvey loved to go hunting and fishing. He also loved animals of all kinds.
Surviving Harvey are two daughters, Lori Brooks and husband Tracy and Sondra Blaylock and husband Paul; step-daughter, Amber Price; sister, Sally Sexton; grandchildren, Bradley Hicks & wife Kaia Hicks, Chance North, Tyler Brooks, Mya Blaylock, Macy Blaylock, Jace Ayers and Abigail Ayers; great-grandchildren, Lorali North, Kennedy North and Boone McDaniel and a host of other family and friends.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents, Lillie and Tom Crow, his father, Clifford Phillips, a brother, Henry Lee Crow and granddaughter, Bailey Elizabeth Brooks.
Memorial services for Harvey will be held at A Place of New Hope Calvary, 930 West 8th St., Ada, OK with Jeremy O'Brien officiating.
Harvey will be laid to rest at Highland Cemetery in Stonewall at a later date.
Services are under the direction of OK Cremation & Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
