Gerri B. Gibson

January 30, 1950 — April 17, 2024

Midwest City

Gerri B. Gibson of Midwest City passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at the age of 74.

Gerri was born on January 30, 1950, to C.W. and Anna Balanger in Russellville, AR. As a teenager, the family moved to Bovina, Texas and she graduated from Bovina High School in 1968. Shortly after graduating, she married Ronald Gibson, and they had two children, Chad and Ronda.

Ronald’s military career led them to Midwest City where she settled and raised their children. Gerri spent her career working at Tinker Air Force Base.

Gerri was known by her family and friends as a strong person, who took great pride in caring for her home and working in the yard. She loved mowing her yard on her riding lawn mower and planting flowers. If she was not outside tending to her yard, she was reading books. She was an avid reader and took weekly trips to the Midwest City Library.

Her favorite aunt, Elease, introduced Gerri to horse racing, and she fell in love with the sport. Gerri loved going to Remington Park and watching horse racing as often as she could. A highlight of Gerri’s life was attending the Kentucky Derby in 2010, a bucket list event that she cherished.

She is preceded in death by her son Chad, ex-husband Ronald, friend Rick Clemmer, her brother and her parents. She is survived by her precious daughter, Ronda Neal and wife, Lindsay, grandsons Jack and Charlie Neal, cousins and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
