Gary Wayne Phillips of Tuttle, Oklahoma passed away September 17, 2024, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 74.
Gary was born to Earl Lee & Vonnie Kathleen (Haggy) Phillips on July 31, 1950, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He joined the United States Army in 1968, when he was just 17 years old. He served in the Vietnam war earning the following awards and medals; Good Conduct Medal, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Campaign Medal with 60th Dev. Sharpshooter M-16, and German Army Marksman in Bronze. He married his wife, Jana Kay Mosley on December 31, 1970. From this union they had two daughters Michelle Dawn & Melanie Kay Phillips. After leaving the Army, Gary worked in the construction industry for many years.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents Earl & Vonnie Phillips, granddaughter James Elizabeth Roberts, and his cousin/best friend Charles McLain.
He is survived by his wife Jana Kay Phillips, daughters Michelle Dawn (Marty) Doucette & Melanie Kay (Tyler) Wallis, grandchildren Katrina Rhodes, McKensey (Greg) Roberts, Jordan (Shawn) Bohannan, Terry Armstrong, Taylor Armstrong, and Zoey Wallis, greatgrandchildren Jaxyn, Maxton, Dexter, Rhett, Rowdy, Millie, Trent, Shawn, Curtis, Jacob, Denver, Hunter, & River, and his brother Jim Phillips. He will be missed by all that know him.
