Eleanor Jean Allison Maguire (Susie) transitioned from this world into heaven during her sleep on March 22, 2022. While her passing was unexpected, her family is grateful that she did not suffer, and her passing was peaceful.
Susie was proceeded in death by her parents Carole V. and James W. Allison as well as her brother Edward J. Allison. Susie leaves behind her five children, Becky Maguire (Michael Mooers of San Jose, Ca), Frank Maguire (Melissa Maguire of Piedmont, OK), Carole Lumen (Gregg Lumen of Moore, OK), Kerrie Johnson (Michael Johnson of Noble, OK) and Joseph Maguire (Oklahoma City, OK). She also leaves behind her 9 cherished grandchildren James Maguire, Mykaela Johnson, Zack Maguire, Ava Lumen, Karlie Johnson, Sean Maguire, Erik Mooers, Somer Johnson and Luke Lumen.
Susie was born in La Jolla, California on October 22, 1942 but spent most of her childhood in the small farming community of Piru, California. As a teenager she moved to Fillmore, California and attended both Fillmore and Santa Paula High School. After graduating from Santa Paula High School in 1960 Susie attended Brigham Young University for two years before transferring to Holy Cross Teaching Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah where she received her licensed vocational nursing degree (LVN).
Susie returned to California where she lived and worked as a nurse in Ventura, California. Susie married James Maguire in 1968 and they eventually returned to Fillmore to raise their children. In 1984 the family moved to Oklahoma and lived in Mooreland, Woodward and finally settled in Piedmont. After her divorce, Susie spent time living with most of her children and had spent the last 12 years in San Jose, California. She had just returned to Oklahoma in November.
While Susie loved nursing, her greatest passion was teaching children to sing. She loved to help them find their voice, their song and cultivate a love for music and singing. Susie spent many years in California and Oklahoma teaching music to the children in her church congregations and it brought her great joy to see them perform. She poured her heart and soul into her music directing and we know that’s when she was at her happiest. She passed on her musical gifts to her children and grandchildren and her legacy will live on in their musical talents and equal love of music. Susie taught hundreds of children to sing over the years, we know that she is now able and thrilled to hear them all again.
