Dorothy Mae Featherstone-Land was born on January 6, 1934 to Herschell and Maggie Featherstone in Hugo, Oklahoma.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris Brison and two brothers, Billy Joe Featherstone and Herman Henry Featherstone and one son Alvin Armstrong Jr.
Dorothy grew up in Hugo, Oklahoma and later her family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. In 1952, she graduated from Douglass High School in Oklahoma City.
She was later employed at Tinker AFB as a keypunch operator. In 1965, she relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she worked and retired from Consolidated Rail Corporation after 30 years of service.
After Retirement,she loved doing projects around the house and was known for being able to fix anything! She also claimed that her kids got it from her if they displayed any kind of talent!
Dorothy loved people and in her lifetime she had two best friends, Majalean Davis-Franklin and Linda Miller, that were like her sisters. She loved helping friends with parties and events and had a strong passion for setting beautiful tables.
She was a snazzy dresser and had an eye for unique fashion! She enjoyed dressing her girls for every occasion and, yes, even after they were grown up!
She leaves to cherish her memory, two daughters, Alma Armstrong, Houston, Texas,
Shirley Cole, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Two sons Herschell Armstrong (Patricia), Houston, Texas and Glenzell Land Jr., Chicago, Illinois. Several grand children, great grand children, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
