Doris Lee Poe

May 6, 1937 — January 28, 2025

Doris Lee Poe, 87, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 28, 2025, at her home in Blanchard, Oklahoma surrounded by family. She was born May 6, 1937, in Coosa County Alabama, the eldest daughter of the late William Lowell Blankenship and Essie Ree (Jones) Blankenship.

Doris was preceded in death by her Parents; Brothers Wilber Junior Blankenship and Terry Adair Blankenship; Nephew Bobby Harrison Blankenship, Jr., Niece Deborah Lynn Blankenship, Son-n-law Mark Anthony Tidwell, Step-Granddaughter Nichole Cutter Goers and her very best friend Axel.

Prior to retiring from Bank One, (n/k/a, JPMorgan Chase) in Oklahoma City, Doris worked most of her life for several other banks and financial companies, mostly in the Stock Transfer Department, located in Oklahoma, Alabama, Florida & New York.

Doris was a lifetime member of her childhood church, New Site Baptist Church, in Alabama,. She regularly attended Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle until she was physically unable. One of her favorite bible verses was: “Do not remember the sins of my youth and my rebellious ways; according to your love remember me, for you, LORD, are good”(Psalm 25:7, NIV). Doris loved her church family, especially her dear collective group of friends, known to themselves as “The HootnNannies”.

Doris loved to play the piano for her family. She was a big fan of The Gaither Vocal Band and huge admirer of anything starring Kevin Costner. Along with her Bible, she just enjoyed reading, mostly mystery novels. Doris loved and insisted on taking pictures and videos of everyone who was apart of her life’s journey. From the first day her Daddy bought her a Kodiak Brownie camera, she became our family’s most treasured memory keeper.

For those who knew her well, most will agree, that Doris will definitely be remembered for telling stories, to anyone who would listen, about her earlier life and childhood memories.

Doris is survived by her husband Michael E. Poe; Daughters Sabrina Leigh Tidwell of Grady, AL and Katrina Jaye Cutter of Oklahoma City, OK; Son Christopher Lowell Pennell (Denise) of Raleigh, NC; Brother Bobby Harrison Blankenship and two sisters, Mavis Ree Pope and Elizabeth Ann Operman, of Alabama; Grandsons Brandon Q Cutter (Avery) of Oklahoma City, OK, Malcolm Jayson Cutter of Springfield, MO and Step-Grandson Austin Hall of Broadway, NC; Granddaughters Brandy King, Hope Sanderson, and Robin Yeager of Alabama, Alisha Jolene Gard of Crockett, CA and Victoria Kathleen Pennell of Apex, NC, and several generations of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and so many close friends who loved her dearly.

There will be no services at this time.
