Curtis H Mays
September 26, 1939 — January 10, 2016
Curtis H. Mays, Shawnee resident, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2016 at his home at the age of 76.
He was born Sept. 26, 1939 in Kiowa, OK to Clinton D. and Vesta A. (Rowe) Mays. Curtis enlisted in the US Army and received an honorable discharge.
He married Virginia D. (Maddox) and she preceded him in death in 2006. Curtis later married Imogene “Jean” Cole and she survives him of the home.
Curtis worked as an electronics technician for many years with RCA and later retired from St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City. He loved traveling in his RV all of the USA and was proud of the fact that he had visited all 50 states. He was an excellent guitar player and loved playing music with his friends at the various campgrounds that they would visit.
Curtis is also survived by his children, Jeff, Chris, Rusty, Mary, Tony and Tamara; eight grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Leo Mays and a host of other family and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Clinton and Vesta Mays.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 1:30 PM at the Fairview Cemetery in Shawnee.
Services are under the direction of OK Cremation and Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
