Betty Jean (Earls) Duncan

d. October 12, 2015

Betty Jean Duncan was born May 25, 1929 in Oklahoma City to Albert Earls and Zelma Bailey Earls.  She passed away October 12, 2015 at Ranchwood Nursing Home in Yukon, Oklahoma at the age of 86.

Betty was a homemaker and raised many children.  She didn’t have time for anything else.  She loved all her children and grandchildren unconditionally and catered to each personality, as needed, to keep the peace.  The LORD was her Keeper and Savior and he helped her all her life.  She couldn’t make it without Him.  She often had love and laughter, strength and a song in her heart.

She loved to party and always looked forward to the Bailey reunions each year.  She also loved the Fourth of July and was very patriotic.  Betty enjoyed cooking big meals and having everyone around on holidays.

Betty had many kids outside of the family that she took care of.  No matter how bare the cupboard looked to the children, Betty could always cook a meal with what she had.  She knew a lot of secrets and took many of them to the grave.  If she felt a need to tell anyone in order to help she would.  She was a woman of wisdom and could read a person very well.

Her kitchen table was always full with eating, laughter, and singing.  The gathering place of her home was the kitchen table.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Calvin Leon Johnny Duncan and Jim Jones, her parents Albert and Zelma Earls; brothers Bill and Ralph Earls; children Pamela Duncan, Charles Duncan, Stacy Duncan, and Margaret Meyer; and grandchildren Jack Darryl Jenkins and Charles Allen Boykin.

She leaves behind two sisters Shirley Bounds and Linda Watson; ten children Sharon, Barbara, Nancy, Jesse, Thomas, Deborah, Connie, Wanda, Gail, and Howard; 23 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.  She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service for Berry Jean Duncan will be held at the OK Cremation and Funeral Home Chapel (2415 N. Walnut, Oklahoma City, OK 73105) on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 2:00 P.M.  Services are under the direction of OK Cremation and Funeral Home, LLC.
