Arley Ashburn Garvin, Jr.

December 6, 1933 — January 3, 2021

Oklahoma City

Arley Ashburn Garvin Jr was born December 6,1933 in Kansas City, Missouri to Arley Sr. and Daisy Garvin. Growing up on a farm in Missouri, young Arley Jr. learned the true meaning of hard work. At the age of 13, Arley experienced the loss of his father. Armed with the example set by his father, Arley Jr. quit school to help take care of his mother and sisters.  Later as a father, no job was too small or too hard if it meant that Arley could care for his family. He set a great example for his children instilling in them that same work ethic.

What brought Arley the most joy was working for Jehovah. Arley’s love for Jehovah was evident from an early age. He symbolized his dedication to Jehovah in 1943 at the age of 10. Some of the privileges in the Christian congregation that Arley enjoyed were the ministry, being the territory servant, and the account servant.

Arley married his wife Patricia on February 23, 1958 in Topeka, Kansas. They were married for 57 yrs before Pat fell asleep in death on September 19, 2015. The two loved attending the meetings. Arley and Pat would attend all of their Christian meetings for the week. They would also attend an additional 9 to 15 meetings via internet each week.

Arley was preceded in death by his wife Pat, his sisters Mary and Doris Ellen, and his parents Arley Sr. and Daisy.

He is survived by his children Ted (Jan) Garvin, Rachel (Cecil) Raley, and Mark (Lisa) Garvin. His 5 grandchildren Robert Garvin, Charles Garvin, Holly (Gabe) Opio, Cecil Raley III, Michael Raley and one great grandson Charles. As well as numerous Nieces and Nephews.

The family would like to thank all of the prayers and condolences from all as well as the overwhelming love that has been shown through meals, phone calls, and messages.

Our hope is that everyone is there to welcome Arley back when he awakens from his short rest in Jehovah’s memory.
