Alex Lewis Jr. was born September 22, 1945 in Hugo, Oklahoma to the parents of Alex Lewis Sr. and Lena Mae Davis. He was the third of four children, Clara Edwards, Helen Chappel and Verna Mae Jennings.
Alex grew up in Hugo and attended Booker T. Washington High School. At a very early age, he became a driver for a local farmer until he was old enough to join the U.S. Army. While in the Army, he was requested to drive for the General. After receiving his honorable discharge, he continued his driving career. He became a cross country truck driver driving for Trans Con, Lee Way, Gold Transit, McCorkle Truck Line and other private owned companies for over 45 years.
Alex united in marriage to Shirley Morris on February 28, 1976. To this union there was three children, Montey, Kimberly and Sharita.
Some of Alex’s favorite things to do was to talk (debate) and spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. He also loved to play dominos and going to the casino.
His father, Alex Lewis Sr. and mother, Lena Davis, one brother, Joe Lewis and two sisters, Helen Chappel and Verna Mae Jennings and one daughter, Lana Lewis all preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories to his wife, Shirley Lewis; two sons, Randy (Shrida) and Montey (Jennifer); two daughters, Kimberly (Kevin) and Sharita (Michael); two sisters, Clara Edwards and Alice (Richard) Smith; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; nine sisters-in-law and nine brothers-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM at OK Cremation & Funeral Home Chapel, 2415 N. Walnut Ave, Oklahoma City.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Spencer with Pastor Arthur Raney Jr. officiating. Military honors will follow.
Services are under the direction of OK Cremation & Funeral Home, Oklahoma City.
