Abraham Lincoln Thomas

August 27, 1915 — January 6, 2016

Abraham Lincoln Thomas, Shawnee resident, passed away January 6, 2016 at St. Anthony Hospital in Shawnee at the age of 100.

He was born August 27, 1915 in Poteau, Oklahoma to James Alfred and Jennie Slaymon (Watson) Thomas. Abe worked with United States Merchant Marine at a young age. He held many successful occupations during his life. He was an artist, musician and band member, owned a café, bakery and an ice cream shop and worked as a tool and die maker in the auto industry among several others.

He married Margaret Jean (Terry) and she later preceded him in death.

Abe is survived by two sons, Lincoln “Linc” Thomas and wife Judith of Shawnee and David Thomas of Rhode Island; two daughters, Kathy Murray and husband Ray of Adair, OK and Melodie Comer of Pennsylvania; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Grace Shiles of Shawnee; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends.

He was also preceded by his parents; four sisters and two brothers.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at  1:30 PM at OK Cremation and Funeral Home, 2415 N. Walnut Ave., Oklahoma City, OK.
