Beverly Ann (Hamilton) Johnson

Beverly Ann was the sixth of eleven children born to Willard and TeaRosa (Jackson) Hamilton on January 12, 1952. Her father, mother, two sisters, Carolyn and Wilda Reeves, and three brothers, Roland, Clarence Ray, and Willard Jr., preceded her in death.

Beverly Ann departed this life to her next journey on June 17, 2023 at 12:03 P.M. at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She united with the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Arcadia, Oklahoma as a child. When Arcadia High School closed it doors, she attended Star-Spencer High School in Spencer, Oklahoma for two years and graduating in May 1970.

Beverly Ann met and united in marriage to her neighbor Gerald Johnson for 42 years. She worked for Cain coffee/Adam Mills Hosiery in Edmond, Oklahoma for approximately 10 years until it was closed. Then she moved on to work for Western Electric/Lucent, before moving on to Firestone Tires and eventually retiring.

She loved conversation with anyone and if you didn’t have a conversation then, you would just have to listen to her. When she retired she would call her family and friends early, early in the morning because she was bored. We finally had to inform her that we were not retired and had to go to work. It took us about 2 years to break her of this habit no matter how bad we talked about her. She loved to cook for family and friends and playing bingo was her favorite and she was very good at winning. But, her true love was her husband, her daughter, grandchildren and great grand children. Our father nick named her “Big Mama” and she wore it well. We will miss her kindness, gentle spirit, her squeaky laugh and those big beautiful brown eyes.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband Gerald; her daughter LaShell Hall (Andre), two grandchildren; Dawnisha Johnson and Andre Hall Jr.; and three great grandchildren Ireon Williams Jr, Kennedi Williams and Ke’Ari Williams; a sister-in-law Bettye Wedgeworth all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; one brother; Floyde Hamilton, Arcadia, Oklahoma, four sisters, Patricia Johnson (Ricky), Rose Jones and Cynthia Swain all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Maxine Hamilton of Washington, D.C. , one aunt, and host of nephews, nieces and other family members.
